Best East Bay Family Photo Locations for Young Children During Summer-An Experienced Photographer's tip!

If you've been searching for an East Bay family photographer but worry your little ones won't make it through a late summer sunset session, you're not alone.

One of the most common concerns I hear from families throughout Walnut Creek, Concord, Clayton, Lafayette, and the surrounding East Bay is that summer sunsets happen too late. With golden hour often starting after 7:30 PM, many young children are tired, hungry, and ready for bed.

The good news is that some of my favorite East Bay family photography locations don't require a sunset session at all.

Oakland Redwoods

When families ask me for the best family photo location in the East Bay during summer, The Oakland Redwoods

is always near the top of my list.

The towering redwood trees create beautiful shade throughout the day, making it one of the best locations for family photos in the East Bay. The soft filtered light allows us to start sessions much earlier than traditional golden hour while still creating beautiful images.

Another bonus? The cooler temperatures. While many East Bay locations can become quite warm during summer, the redwoods stay comfortable and enjoyable for young children.

As an East Bay family photographer, I've found that kids love exploring the trails and natural surroundings, which often leads to authentic smiles and genuine family moments.

Shady Concord Park - A Photographer Favorite Location!

Concord has a beautiful park with mature trees that provide excellent shade throughout the day. This location is ideal for families with toddlers and young children who simply can't stay up for a late evening session.

The tree-lined pathways, open grassy areas, and shaded spaces create beautiful backdrops for family photography in Concord while allowing us to schedule sessions earlier in the day. For families looking for a Concord family photographer, these parks offer a wonderful combination of convenience, comfort, and beautiful scenery.

Why Earlier Sessions Can Be Better for Young Children

While golden hour light is beautiful, a happy child is even better.

Some of my favorite family photography sessions in Walnut Creek, Concord, and throughout the East Bay have happened well before sunset. Children are often more relaxed, parents are less stressed, and the entire experience feels more enjoyable.

As a family photographer serving Walnut Creek, Concord, Clayton, Lafayette, Danville, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Orinda, and San Ramon, I always help families choose a location and session time that works best for their children.

Because at the end of the day, beautiful family photos aren't just about perfect light. They're about preserving genuine moments with the people you love most.

If you're looking for an East Bay family photographer and need a location that's perfect for young children during the summer months, I'd love to help you find the perfect spot for your family.
